SPI was founded in 1992 by Jack Schickler, its current President and CEO. Jack is a retired General Motors executive with over 50 years of experience in creating engineering solutions to both vehicle and equipment operating service problems and the management of databases for such purposes. He has founded four successful companies for those applications. SPI takes what Jack calls a “holistic” approach to maintenance and service. The company seeks to bring the client’s entire service organization to new levels of understanding of both the technology required and the techniques and practices for making the service process efficient and successful for both the provider and the customer.
After developing and marketing the GM Techline™ system for computerized servicing of GM vehicles, Jack turned his attention to providing the same service to all-makes of vehicles and equipment, including business office and healthcare devices. Often associated with those solutions are the databases that contain valuable historical records and problem solutions that can form the basis for predictive maintenance, improved cost control and better training of technicians. Those are popular services to SPI customers. Often they result in online systems and customized software.
SPI counts among its customers a variety of firms and institutions that cover a broad range of American commerce. Among them are Ford Motor, Freightliner, Mack Truck, ADP, The City of New York, North Carolina DOT, Ricoh, Xerox, Hearst Business Media, and Michelin, to name a few. SPI has also sold its products and services in North and South America, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.
SPI also invents and markets its own manufactured products, such as the Equilibrate System for measuring human balance from Balance Engineering, LLC, on which Jack and his daughter hold the patent.
